Neuro-Developmental, Pediatric, and Rehabilitation Optometrists

Heather McBryar, OD, FCOVD

Diplomate, American Board of Optometry
Dr. Heather McBryar graduated with honors from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry. Her aspiration to become an optometrist began after a great experience with her first eye exam when she was in third grade and she received her first pair of glasses. Dr. McBryar’s interest in vision is also very personal because of a rare genetic X-linked recessive retinal disorder that runs in her family.

Dr. McBryar is a Fellow of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (FCOVD) and has lectured extensively in the area of vision development and vision therapy. She also holds membership in the Optometric Extension Program, the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association, and the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians.

Dr. McBryar relocated from her hometown of Memphis in 2008 with the desire to expand developmental vision care in the Chattanooga area. When she is not in the office, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children.

Laura Hooper Sechler, OD

Dr. Laura Hooper Sechler graduated with honors from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry. Her love of working with children and her interest in vision therapy began while working in an optometric practice during college. Dr. Sechler found her passion when she handed a child her first pair of glasses. She truly loves seeing how much her patients grow and change both academically and personally with the help of vision therapy.

She is a native of Northwest Tennessee, but is happy that she and her husband Spencer have settled in the Chattanooga area. They love exploring the city and dining in the many different restaurants around town. In leisure time she enjoys traveling, baking, and spending quality time with her family.

Dr. Sechler is currently a member of the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians where she is serving on the Board of Trustees. She is also a member of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development and Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association.
